The M.Ed. emphasizes critical inquiry through activities and research to prepare educators to lead and manage complex organizations. The program suits working professionals expected to serve with distinction in demanding positions while completing the degree. The degree is a building and/or district-level leadership skills program approved by the Oklahoma State Department of Education for certification purposes. Those students in the M.Ed. program will be served by a rigorous, high-quality program designed to meet working professionals’ needs by offering split-term/semester eight-week evening classes supplemented by outside research activities and field experiences. Full-time OU faculty from our Norman and Tulsa campuses teach nearly all the courses. Professionals from regional educational entities may also be co-teachers, guest speakers, or adjunct instructors. The format includes a highly intensive cohort graduate degree program with the major core courses accounting for 27 credit hours and electives accounting for 9 credit hours for a total of 36 credit hours for program completion.
OU will provide TFA students with reduced tuition, fees, waivers, and other incentives as may be approved by the Board of Regents, subject to the availability of funds. The parties acknowledge that Board Policy and tuition rates, waivers, and other incentives are subject to change at the sole discretion of the Board.
Beginning in Summer 2024, anticipated incentives for TFA students include:
- OU will waive non-resident tuition as it applies to these TFA students.
- OU will waive $700 for resident tuition per semester, assuming 6 hours semester enrollment, for a total of up to $4,200 waived for the 36-hour program.
- OU will waive the application fee
